The goose shooting in Scotland is world renowned and attracts hunting enthusiasts from far and wide. There are three types of geese that you are allowed to shoot in the Highlands and they are the Canada’s , Grey Lags and Pink Foots. Geese shooting season usually runs between October and January but can sometimes start as early as September depending on the weather conditions at the time.
Using a Local Guide
For the best results when goose shooting you should be accompanied by a guide. They can advise you on the best spots, position the decoys correctly and set up a hide. Many guides will have developed their own geese calls and it can be very exciting to listen to them being used. Goose shooting is exhilarating and you will really get back to nature, especially if your guide has you hiding behind hedges or crouching in long grass!
